During its annual meeting today, the Opelika Chamber of Commerce presented GSF with the Large Business of the Year Award. The Alabama-based Protein Products facility earned this recognition for its GSF Foundation contributions to the community, its Adopt-A-Mile sponsorship for Keep Opelika Beautiful, and its donation of 400 backpacks with school supplies to local students.
“This accomplishment could only be possible through the perseverance and solid values that our Opelika associates demonstrate at GSF and beyond our facility doors,” said Nathan Murphy, GSF Group Vice President Operations, Protein Products. “With so many challenging circumstances this year, our Opelika team continues to rise to the occasion and actively contribute to our community’s vitality.”
Since opening in mid-2018, GSF’s sole U.S. Protein Products plant has brought hundreds of jobs to Opelika, supporting its growth and economic development. Over the past two years, the Opelika team has earned numerous industry and customer accolades, as well as top ratings in food safety and sustainability audits. Additional 2020 accomplishments by Opelika include launching Intelex software for EHS reporting, constructing a GSF University classroom, and completing the first phase of the Golden Performance System, GSF’s company-wide continuous improvement initiative.
