Lyn Marable: 47 Years of Dedicated GSF Service

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

Each quarter, GSF features an individual celebrating an anniversary within the GSF family of companies, sharing their journey, insights and what makes their time with the company so special.

On July 14, Lyn Marable of GSF Conyers will retire on his 47th anniversary of joining Golden State Foods. In 1975, Lyn began working for GSF in the Protein Products division as part of the beef deboning operation. He later held numerous roles working in forklift operations and quality control before transitioning to the warehouse, where he worked as a warehouse lead supporting the Liquid Products team for most of his career.

“It’s been a fun and long 47 years, which I never thought I would do when I started,” Lyn reminisces on his nearly half-century career with GSF. “I have seen the company grow and change over the years, from baked goods and protein being here [at Conyers] to transitioning into just liquid products.”

In each of his roles, GSF’s training and incentive programs enabled Lyn to learn continuously. He mastered new skills that positioned him for more responsibilities and opportunities, as he progressed along his career path within the company.

“GSF had an incentive program that developed me over the years, which taught me how to check in the inbound tankers, inventory control, and moved me to drive a lift,” Lyn said. “While driving a lift, I learned how to load, unload, receive inventory, and train others.

Reflecting on his long, successful career with GSF, Lyn largely credits his job satisfaction to the family-like atmosphere at the Conyers facility. As his favorite aspect of working at GSF, his valued colleagues made Lyn’s work experiences team-focused and positive.

“The people you work with make it easy to do your job,” says Lyn. “We work together and try to do our jobs, while still having fun getting the product shipped.”

According to Lyn’s colleagues, his focus on maintaining the highest standards and his admirable work ethic have consistently demonstrated his dedication to the Creed and Values. Through the years, Lyn’s devotion and determination helped the Conyers team achieve multiple awards, including consecutive Chairman’s Challenge Awards (2011-2012) and Best in Class Awards (2011-2012), as well as Quality Focus Awards (2012-2015).

“Lyn’s always gone the extra mile to ensure he gets the job done right the first time,” said Cory Dial, Warehouse Manager, Liquid Products North America. “He brings great value to the Conyers facility, supporting GSF and our customers.”

After his nearly five decades of service to GSF, Lyn looks forward to spending his leisure time at home and traveling with his wife during his well-deserved retirement. GSF congratulates Lyn on his retirement and his 47-year milestone this week!
