Two QCD Suffolk Associates Mark 35 Years of Dedicated Service

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

Each quarter, GSF features associates celebrating milestone anniversaries within the GSF family of companies, sharing their journey, insights and what makes their time with the company so special.

The Suffolk, Virginia distribution center holds a special place in Tony Keech’s and Bo Holmes’ hearts. For 35 years, both men have been integral to the success of this Quality Custom Distribution (QCD) facility, which is part of Golden State Foods (GSF).

“Since Suffolk is one of the smallest centers, we are a close-knit family here,” Tony reflects. “You get to know your fellow associates from the top down and their families. You care about them and they care about yours.”

Driven by Tony’s encouragement decades prior, Bo applied for his position in maintenance and sanitation after several years working for a quick service restaurant customer. His prior familiarity with the customer’s products, combined with punctuality, patience, and dedication has set Bo up for years of success and opportunities to grow within the company.

In his role as a driver/switcher, Tony leverages his skills of patience, problem solving, and safe driving—especially in tight spaces—to deliver the best customer experience possible. In servicing iconic quick service restaurant customers, Tony emphasizes his focus on supporting customer success above all.

“I always tell other drivers, especially new ones, to be attentive to the customer’s needs and concerns because our only product is ‘service’ and it has to be better than anyone else’s,” he shares.

When asked about their longevity with the company, both associates attest to QCD’s culture of providing flexible working opportunities and setting associates up for success with the proper tools and equipment. This approach has led the Suffolk team to earn customer recognitions, including an “Outstanding Performance” award for excellent service in 2017, industry honors, including two Silliker Platinum/National Supplier Leadership Council Awards in 2007 and 2005, and top GSF accolades, including the 2001 Chairman’s Challenge Award and 2011 Best in Class Award.

GSF and QCD congratulate Tony and Bo on each of their milestones with sincere gratitude for their meaningful contributions over the last 35 years!
